Senthil Palaniappun, MD

Dual Board-Certified Vascular & Interventional Radiologist

Interventional Radiology · Vascular IR · Oncology IR · Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Senthil Palaniappun is a Harvard-trained, dual board-certified Vascular and Interventional Radiologist with over 13 years of dedicated VIR experience. He completed both his final year of Radiology Residency and his Vascular & Interventional Imaging Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School — earning dual ABR certification in Diagnostic Radiology (2008) and Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology (2017, DABR).

Dr. Palaniappun brings rare procedural breadth to SEVA Healthcare — from complex vascular interventions including TIPS, TACE, and thrombolysis, to embolization therapies, oncology IR, dialysis access, and biliary procedures. He is a Director of his own IR practice and served as medical educator for Harvard University Advanced Radiology students, Brown University medical students, and SUNY Buffalo — demonstrating a career-long commitment to clinical excellence and physician education.

His approach integrates precision image-guided technique with a genuine commitment to patient education — helping each patient understand their condition and the minimally invasive options available to them.

Specialties of Dr. Senthil Palaniappun

Peripheral Vascular Intervention

Image-guided diagnosis and treatment of peripheral arterial disease using angioplasty, stenting, and catheter-based techniques — restoring blood flow as a minimally invasive alternative to open vascular surgery.

Embolization Therapies

Comprehensive embolization expertise including uterine artery/fibroid embolization (UFE), MSK embolization, GI and post-traumatic bleeding embolization, and tumor embolization across multiple vascular territories.

Oncology Interventional Radiology

TACE (Transarterial Chemoembolization) and RF ablation for liver tumors and other oncologic conditions — delivering cancer-directed therapy directly to the tumor site through minimally invasive image-guided approaches.

TIPS & Complex Liver Procedures

Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS) creation for portal hypertension and refractory ascites, plus transjugular liver biopsy — among the most technically demanding procedures in interventional radiology.

Dialysis Access & Vascular Access

AV fistula and graft declotting, balloon-assisted maturation, permanent and temporary dialysis catheters, venous access devices including chest ports and PICC lines — supporting chronic kidney disease and oncology patients.

GU, Biliary & Body Interventions

Nephrostomy, ureteral stent placement, percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD), biliary stenting, percutaneous gastrostomy (G-tube, G-J tube), image-guided biopsy, abscess drainage, paracentesis, and thoracentesis.
